Mission and History
A Christ-centered haven for children and families in need.
At Mount Dora Children’s Home, we know that being either a single parent or a child needing a better home can be especially challenging. We’re here to help.
Mount Dora Children’s Home strives to create a culture and community of excellence as we fulfill our mission in service to children and families. It is our sincere desire that participants in our programs change not only their physical circumstance but transform their internal knowledge of God’s purpose for their life.
Who We Are
Since our founding in 1945, Mount Dora Children’s Home has served as a Christ-centered haven for children and families who find themselves in need. This is a place where children are loved because we believe every child is a gift from God, made in His image, and deserving of a good start in life.
Over the past 75 years, society and family needs have changed dramatically, along with our services and support offered. Yet, our bedrock commitment to providing Biblically based, loving and competent care to children and families has remained steadfast. Regardless of the circumstances that brought them to us, we seek to help every child and adult receiving our services to discover themselves — and more importantly, to discover God’s will for their lives.
How we can help you
We support children and families through two distinct programs: Residential Services for Children and the Single-Parent Program.
