Our Campus

Single parents and their children in our single parent program are provided with housing and other financial support while in the program. Residents live in one of the two-bedroom apartments that adjoin the Social Services Building or in single-family homes on our campus like the one shown below.

The 7,000-square-foot Thompson House is home to girls in the residential services program. Built in 2010, the Thompson House includes seven bedrooms for children plus a game room, computer lab, and family room. It also includes a separate apartment for the house parents and living quarters for relief house parents.

Originally built in the 1970s and remodeled during the past decade, Lugar Cottage features a flexible floor plan that has allowed it to serve as both a home for boys in the residential services program and as a home for multiple single-parent families. It is currently in use for the Single Parent Program.

This building serves as the hub for the social services programs, including residential services for children and the single-parent program. Our social workers work in these buildings, providing administrative services, counseling, and training. It adjoins the small apartment complex where some of the single-parent families reside.

Residents in the residential services for children and single-parent programs benefit by having access to excellent facilities at Mount Dora Christian Academy, which shares the same campus with the Children’s Home. These include sports facilities such as baseball and softball fields, a newly built sports complex for soccer, football and track, a gymnasium, and a playground. The school offers student plays and concerts on campus.
