Year-End Holiday Appeal

Holiday Appeal header graphic

There’s no place like home for the holidays,” says the classic Christmas carol by the same name. There’s nowhere I’d rather be at Christmas than home with my family. How about you?

Sheena Tynes and her three children are residents at Mount Dora Children’s Home – one of many families your generous donations are helping – and for the past two years, Sheena has participated in our Single-Parent Program. Now, as her time with us draws to a close, she is building a new home through Habitat for Humanity that may be finished in time for Sheena and her children to celebrate Christmas there!

“Since I’ve been in the program, I feel it’s been such a blessing for me,” Sheena said. “My kids can be in a Christian environment and I’m able to save money.”

Your gifts to Mount Dora Children’s Home are making life better for residents like Sheena, her children, and for the children in our Group Care Program. Thanks to you, our residents can enjoy this Christmas season, give thanks to God for His goodness, and look forward to a brighter future.

Another resident whose life has been changed forever because of donors like you is Blessing Zim. She came to the Children’s Home while in high school, lived in Thompson House, and graduated from Mount Dora Christian Academy. She’s now a senior at Warner Christian University, made possible by scholarship money from our donors.

Will you please join us in making dreams of a better future come true for more children and families like Sheena and Blessing? Here are some of the ways your gifts have helped us to educate, equip, and empower our residents this year:

  • Two of our residents – a single mother and a high school student – were baptized this year. Our highest priority is the spiritual development of each precious soul God brings to us.
  • More than 40 children and families are currently being housed, educated, and cared for in the Single-Parent and Residential Group Care programs.
  • Residents are receiving an academically strong Christian education at Mount Dora Christian Academy, where they participate in daily chapel and Bible classes and are mentored by Christian teachers and coaches.
  • Residents benefited from innovative training programs including a 12-week health and wellness curriculum in partnership with Advent Health.

Thanks to you, Sheena, her children, Blessing, and other residents can look forward to the holidays as well. As we approach the year’s end, will you please consider a gift of $125 or more to Mount Dora Children’s Home? Your gift will help our single-parent families and children have a Merry Christmas and a more promising future rooted in Christian faith and a solid education.

For the Children,

Dr. Brian Mast

President

P.S. - Don’t forget that all gifts must be postmarked or received in our office before the year’s end to benefit you on your 2022 income taxes!
